Intensive Training in Trauma Therapy (Stabilisation Based Approaches)

This Program consists of three Intensive Workshops exploring a Phased Based Approach for Therapists Working with PTSD & Trauma Presentations. Drawing from Dr. King's research as well as his mentoring from Babette Rothschild and Marsha Linehan's Behavioral Tech LLC, these intensive workshops provide a clear framework and integration of various therapeutic techniques when working with a range of clients including individual's whom have presentations that are impacted by trauma memories.

The program facilitator, Dr. Peter King, has delivered trauma therapy workshops throughout Australia, New Zealand, UK, South Africa, Thailand and Singapore.

Dr. King is an experienced educator and clinician with over 25 years of experiences in various public, community and private mental health settings. Since 1993, Peter has worked in Mental Health Nursing, Social Work, DBT Programs, Psychotherapy, and as a Senior Executive in the health care and not-for-profit sector. Peter has consolidated this experience both in Australia and the USA through mentoring with Professor Marsha Linehan’s company Behavioral Tech LLC, mentoring with the creator of Somatic Trauma Therapy - Babette Rothschild, leading clinical research and completing his Ph.D. in the mental health field.

Peter is currently the Clinical and Academic Lead at the Australian DBT Institute on the Gold Coast, Australia and develops mental health professionals through interactive workshops with a focus on safe trauma therapy approaches and the management of individuals with extreme emotion dysregulation. Peter's workshops have been attended by over 10,000 mental health professionals in Australia, South Africa, Singapore, Thailand and the United Kingdom. His Ph.D. focused on Clinical Interventions for Individuals with Borderline Personality Disorder and extreme emotion dysregulation from which he has developed Stabilisation Based Therapy (SBT) and Trauma-Informed Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT-TI).

Peter has held previous positions as CEO of an Indigenous Charity, Senior Researcher at the Centre for Rural Mental Health, Researcher at RMIT's School of Global, Urban and Social Studies, Senior Clinician/Acting Manager on a Psychiatric Triage Team, University Lecturer, Clinical Educator for Emergency Psychiatry Services and employment with the various Mental Health Services (CATT, Psychiatric Triage, Eating Disorders Unit & ECATT).
